Happy Earth Day!

EARTH DAY IS HERE!!!! (Please insert Jack Johnson’s The 3 R’s song here!!! )

This is such a big deal for me, because as many of you know, being married to a surfer and having a bachelor in Environmental Engineering have surrounded us and our family by nature, and even though we are currently in Chicago, far away from the ocean and I don’t work as an environmentalist anymore (I have a long story about how I got from point A to point B, I’ll leave that for another post), I do try to live my life as eco conscious as I can. In fact, one of my main goals as a mother is to shape up green minds and souls in my little girls by connecting them frequently to nature, creating awareness of what we consume (where it came from, who made it, and what will happen to it after we use it) and building consciousness and a sense of individual responsibility about environmental health and ways to preserve and take care of our planet. Trust me, there are plenty of ways to get kids excited about sustainability!!

I’m here today to celebrate mother earth, to remind you that we only have one planet and that we all share the responsibility of looking out for our home, because, whether you like it or not, EARTH is HOME for all of us. Also, I want to share with you a list of a few places around Chicago that will be hosting pretty cool events to celebrate Earth Day this weekend. You will have the perfect opportunity to visit a new place, educate your kids and family about environment issues and take awesome pics while doing all of this.
